£2.99
A seven-year-old Benriach single malt from bottler Hidden Spirits that was matured in a first-fill bourbon cask until 2022.
Aromas of soft spice, lemon, honey, ginger, dried oak, fudge and black pepper fill the nose, complemented by notes of dried fruit, candle wax, allspice, caramel, toffee, lemon zest, peaches and honeycomb throughout the palate.
Benriach is a distillery with long-standing transatlantic connections. It was procured by The Seagram Company in 1978, the former Canadian drinks empire, and is now part of the Scotch whisky holdings of the Kentucky-based Brown-Forman Corporation.
The distillery’s primary make is a non-peated spirit, however following well-received bottlings of experimental peated production from the early 1980s, it now produces both as well as an annual run of triple-distilled single malt. Benriach is one of only a handful of distilleries in Scotland to still operate its own in-house floor maltings.
