Isle of Harris Distillers is a Scottish distilling company founded in 2007 by Anderson Bakewell, who was concerned by the dwindling population of the Isle of Harris in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides.
Bakewell believed a distillery was an ideal long-term employment solution and the company embarked on a long period of fundraising, with Bakewell joined by former Glenmorangie marketing director, Simon Erlanger, in 2012.
The Isle of Harris distillery was opened in 2015, and its popular eponymous gin brand was launched in October that year. The company’s single malt brand, The Hearach, then followed in September 2023.

The Hearach brand was a collection of eight small batch releases, all bottled in the Autumn of 2023 from a vatting of Buffalo Trave and Heaven Hill bourbon casks, and fino and oloroso sherry casks.
