Macallan Edition No. 4 + 40 Instant Wins | 1888!

The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow ‘cut’ of new make spirit and exceptional cask management.

It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.

Edition Series:

Given the stellar reputation Macallan have cultivated over the years, they’d probably be forgiven for resting on their laurels and adopting an attitude of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

The Edition Series confirms that very much isn’t the case, with its willingness to look beyond the traditional cask types favoured by the distillery.

Each of the six expressions is crafted from a unique combination of casks selected to push the boundaries of what whisky drinkers have come to expect from Macallan.

Cask Type: European & American Oak Casks, 48.4% ABV

The Macallan Lumina + 40 Instant Wins | 1898!

The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.

A new £140 million subterranean distillery and visitor centre on the Easter Elchies estate was opened to the public in the summer of 2018 and has since won several awards for its architectural quality; with its exciting features including glass walls of vintage whiskies, a circular pod of copper pot stills, and a Boutique reflecting those in Dubai and Heathrow airports.

Quest collection:

Created for the travel retail market in 2017, the Quest Collection appropriately celebrates the distillery’s quest to source the finest oak from all over the world (well, Europe and America at least). Perhaps unsurprisingly, the European Sherry oak influence increases as you work your way up the range, strongly suggesting that’s what suits the distillery’s viscous spirit best.

The Lumina is matured in a combination of sherry seasoned, European and American oak casks, and hogsheads. 41.3% ABV

Macallan Edition No. 3 + 40 Instant Wins | 1903

The third release in The Macallan's wood-focused Edition series saw master perfumer Roja Dove and master whisky maker Bob Dalgarno create a whisky using their very particular sets of skills.

Dove pinned down the flavour profile for Edition No. 3 by using the same formula he would for a perfume: pinpointing complementary aromas, and balancing these with a “counterpoint” note.

The resulting liquid is a combination of six American and European oak casks, with deliciously sweet, floral notes up front.

The Macallan A Night On Earth In Scotland Whisky + 40 Instant Wins | 1904!

The Macallan A Night on Earth in Scotland. Full of symbolism linked to Scotland's Hogmanay celebrations on the 31st of December and the 'first footing' tradition, where it's good luck for the first person welcomed into your home after midnight to bring whisky, shortbread and coal.

There are shortbread notes aplenty in this Highland single malt, coming through from bourbon barrels, and sweet festive spice from sherry seasoned American and European oak casks.

Presented in a box with artwork by Erica Dorn, with the red colours representing the warm fire from the coal.

A fabulous whisky to have on hand for festivities, it pairs wonderfully with shortbread of course!
