The Macallan Distillers Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Edrington Group which purchased the brand from Highland Distillers in 1999. The sixth and final release in The Macallan Edition series. The Edition No.6 takes inspiration from the natural wonders of the River Spey which sits in The Macallan Estate. The five different and distinct cask types used to create the final release are all hand picked by Whisky Maker Steven Bremner. It may be hard to imagine today, but for much of the 20th century, Macallan was primarily a constituent malt in blends. It was not until the 1980s downturn in the market that the distillery decided to focus on its single malt brand.
