They sold it to Eadie Cairns at the end of the decade, who upgraded the site and began officially bottling it as a single malt. The distillery passed through the hands of Morrison Bowmore before becoming part of the Beam Suntory table today. Unusually, none of the Auchentoshan output is reserved for blends, meaning there has been a wealth of distillery bottled single casks and independent releases throughout the years. Now one of Scotland's best loved expressions, the Three Wood was first bottled in 2002. The whisky is initially matured in bourbon wood, then reracked into Spanish Oloroso and finally finished in Pedro Ximenez casks.  | Glen Deveron 5 Year Old 1980s | 2183!Glen Deveron was a single malt brand produced at Macduff distillery. Production began at the distillery in 1963, and it was eventually purchased by William Lawson, the Scotch whisky arm of Italian giants, Martini & Rossi. In addition to provision for the William Lawson blend, the company also set about bottling its single malt, selecting the name "Glen Deveron," and youthful 5 and 8 year old age statements to make it more marketable in Italy, where its Glen Grant equivalents were best-sellers. Glen Deveron disappeared after Bacardi took over the distillery ownership in 1993, but eventually returned as simply The Deveron. It was re-opened from that closure in 1939 by Associated Scottish Distilleries, the Scotch arm of the post-Prohibition drinks giant in the US, National Distillers. When ASD ceased trading in 1954 the distillery passed through various hands before being bought by Whyte & Mackay in 1973. Despite being an important contributor to their blends, they also pushed Fettercairn as a single malt brand, known as "Old Fettercairn" until 2002 when the prefix was dropped. Macallan really love a collaboration, or two. This time they’ve teamed up with artist Erica Dorn, who’s work will be familiar to fans of Wes Anderson’s films. Together they have created a whisky, and packaging, that celebrates Hogmanay, Scotland’s famous New Year celebrations. The packaging design takes inspiration from fire rituals associated with the celebration, as well as the Scottish concept of “first footing”: being the first to visit a friend or neighbour after “the bells”, preferably carrying a bottle of whisky and some shortbread. The whisky itself has been centred around this concept too, with a buttery, biscuit finish evocative of the iconic Scottish confection. In 1949 William Delme Evans began work converting a brewery into what is now the Tullibardine distillery; and as the Gleneagles Brewery in Blackford had previously been brewing alcohol since 1488,
Famed for its exclusive use of triple distillation, Auchentoshan is based on the outskirts of Glasgow and was owned for the duration of the 1960s by Tennents brewery.

The first distillery to take out a licence after the Excise Act of 1823, the distillery was a favourite of King George IV who demanded nothing but Glenlivet during a visit to Edinburgh in 1821 - three years before it was legal! Glenlivet has given its name to the ‘longest valley in Scotland’, so called after several distilleries laid claim to the Glenlivet suffix to cash in on the distillery’s sterling reputation. But only one can call itself The Glenlivet.
Fettercairn distillery was built in 1825 and aside froma brief period in mothballs in the 1930s, has been in operation ever since.

Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow ‘cut’ of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.
Gordon & MacPhail have experienced such success with Benromach since they took over the practically derelict distillery in 1993, that in 2016 nine new washbacks were installed, increasing the potential capacity of the distillery to seven hundred thousand litres per annum. While this might sound like small potatoes compared to some of the Speyside titans, it shows remarkable confidence in the rejuvenated brand, since its reintroduction to the market in 2004.
