This independent bottling of Douglas Laing was not coloured and not chill filtered. Therefore the ABV was kept at an high 46%.

Lochranza is one of two malt whisky distilleries operated by Isle of Arran Distillers on the island of the same name. Despite a significant history of illicit whisky production in the 19th century, no legal distilling occurred on Arran until the opening of Lochranza distillery in 1995.

Originally called Arran itself, its flagship single malt brand shares the same name and was introduced in 1993 with the release of its first 3-year-old whisky. The distillery was renamed in 2019 after the town in which it is located.

Lochranza now only distils a non-peated single malt after all of Isle of Arran Distillers’ peated production was moved to Lagg. Lochranza has historically made both styles though and these have been released as Arran and, in the case of the peated single malt, as Machrie Moor.
