Either Or Arran The Sauternes Cask Finish or Glenlivet French Oak Reserve 15 Year Old | 2944!

The flagship single malt brand of the Lochranza distillery on Arran. Originally launched as The Arran Malt in 1998, it was renamed simply as Arran in 2019. Although its core range has always been a non-peated whisky, some occasional limited releases of peated single malt have also been produced.

Featured in the 1001 Whiskies you must try before you die book

Sauternes is a sweet pudding wine from Bordeaux, France and the very finest bottles sell for over £100 a bottle and like the other core three finishes in the Arran range spend most of the maturation time in ex bourbon casks for about 8 years and then finished in the wine cask for 6-9 months. Here the sweet wine casks add rich waxy citrus and honeyed fruit notes for a sweeter dessert style dram.

Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve

Well-known as the oldest licensed distillery in Scotland, for many years ‘Glenlivet’ was a byword for quality, with many single malts using the Glenlivet suffix in attempt to reap the benefits of associating themselves with the Banffshire distillery. Indeed, owners Pernod-Ricard now put a heavy focus on the brand being ‘The Glenlivet’, encouraging their consumers not to accept any imitations. Glenlivet is in a long-running battle with Glenfiddich for the title of best-selling single malt, with both now selling over a million cases a year.

This 15 year old release of Glenlivet, matured in French Limousin Oak casks. Limousin Oak is very commonly used for the maturation of Cognac.

This was launched as part of a new core range in 2004 and replaced a 12 year old age-statement of the same maturation.
