Either Or Macallan The Colour Collection 12 Year Old or Glenfarclas 2007 Marriage Of Casks | 2937!
The Colour Collection 12 Years Old is a testament to The Macallan’s dedication to natural colour and sherry seasoning. This single malt whisky has been matured in American oak casks, subtly enhanced by the inclusion of European oak, creating a harmonious and refined character.
Its aesthetic draws inspiration from the pale, chalky landscapes of Jerez de la Frontera, featuring tones of lemon yellow, soft white, “albero” and “teja”, accompanied by a branch from a sherry grape vine. Renowned artist and graphic designer David Carson collaborated with The Macallan for The Colour Collection, using the region’s distinctive albariza soil as a creative medium—applying it to paper as if it were paint.
Alongside the 12 Years Old expression stands Easter Elchies House, a symbol of The Macallan’s spiritual home in Speyside, Scotland. Nose: Sweet oak, lemon peel, vanilla biscuits and pear Palate: Syrup sponge, citrus curd, orchard fruits and a touch of nutmeg Finish: Medium length with sweet oak and citrus peel.
Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned.
J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit.
