Lochnagar managed to establish a greater amount of luck and success when in 1845, John Begg built his ‘New Lochnagar’ which gained a rare Royal Warrant only a few years later. This was no doubt aided by Begg’s friendship with the Royal family: Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and their eldest children were even treated to the first tour of a distillery. Royal Lochnagar remains Diageo’s smallest distillery and plays an important role in Johnnie Walker Blue Label and it’s the signature malt of Windsor, the best-selling Scotch blend in South Korea. To accompany the final series of the epic HBO drama, Diageo helped ease the tension by releasing a range of eight bottlings - one for each season of the show - from eight different distilleries across the Scottish regions each representing a Game of Thrones House and adorned with the respective crest; supposedly with some connection between the dynasty and the distillery. Matured in a combination of first fill and refill American oak and European oak sherry casks to create an incredibly smooth and rich single malt. Soft gold in colour, this is the lightest expression of the Macallan range, but still packed with typical Speyside Macallan flavours. A lemon citrus nose, with zesty orange peel and oaky vanilla notes. The palate reveals a light sweet flavour, more citrus, apples and ginger spices, but in no way overpowering. As he progressed within the business, he decided to build Japan’s first distillery despite protests from company directors. This is where Masataka Taketsuru comes into the picture.  | Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Circa 1990’s + 10 Instant Wins | 1953!
Constructing it meant not only building the distillery but houses as well, putting in a road, and adding on a pier so that casks and barley could come in, and whisky go out. Everything about Bunnahabhain is large, from the huge courtyard to the stills. It is these with their low fill levels and massive amount of available copper which help to craft what has always been a light style of malt. Ageing has traditionally been in ex-Sherry casks which adds a sumptuous sweet richness to the spirit. Although peat levels had dropped to virtually nothing from the 1960s onwards, Bunna’ did start life smokier than it is now. These days, around 20% of production is heavily peated, destined for a variety of bottlings, the main one being Toiteach. There is now a new distillery shop and bar with stunning views over to the Isle of Jura. We estimate this older style bottle of Bunna’ was released circa 1990’s. Built in 1891, Glenallachie did not begin production until 1898. The whisky from this distillery initially was destined for the White Horse blend, but since Bacardi’s takeover in 1998, the majority of its output now heads for the Dewar’s range.
The now discontinued old Fine Oak release by Macallan, Bottled at 10 years old. Getting harder and harder to find these days.

Founder of the original Lochnagar distillery, James Robertson clearly had a few foes in the business as competitors burned it down and - after Robertson built a new distillery - the second subsequently suffered the same fate.
