it finally ended up in the hands of DLC in 1902. Sadly, production at the distillery ceased shortly afterwards. Fast forward to 1993, and we see Jamie Walker, the great-grandson of one of the distillery’s founders reviving the Adelphi name as an independent bottler, ultimately selling the company to Keith Falconer and Donald Houston in 2004, who went on to found Ardnamurchan distillery. Whiskies bottled by Adelphi are selected by a nosing team chaired by whisky critic Charles MacLean, and their outturns have received numerous accolades including several Malt Maniacs Awards. It was at the beginning of the 19th Century that blending pioneers James and John Chivas, two brothers from Aberdeen in Scotland, first combined different matured whiskies to create a unique ‘house’ character.
Glenfiddich was founded in Dufftown by William Grant, who had honed his craft at Mortlach distillery; and on Christmas Day 1887 the first spirit ran from the stills.
The Isle of Harris distillery is located in Tarbert, a small community on the small island situated in the Outer Hebrides (Wester Isles) of Scotland.
