Old Pulteney Navigator | 1831!

The Pulteney distillery was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in the historic Caithness fishing port of Wick and has changed hands many times over the years.

It is currently the second best seller in the Inver House stable. In 1930 production ceased at Pulteney, due to the introduction of prohibition in Wick in an attempt to curb drunkenness. The town remained ‘dry’ until 1947, and four years later Pulteney distillery re-opened.

The distillery has won many accolades over the years.

Pulteney distillery is equipped with a single pair of very individual stills, with condensing taking place in a pair of stainless steel worm tubs. Both stills boast large boil balls, and the wash still has a unique, truncated, flat-topped appearance.

This whisky was released at the start of the Clipper Round the World Race and Old Pulteney sponsored one of the 12 spectacular super yachts in the 2013/14 Clipper Race fleet.

The Isle of Jura The Loch | 1836!

Located on the West Coast of Scotland is the Isle of Jura, where the red deer population outnumbers the human population by 5000 to 200.

The island lies only 60 miles from Glasgow, (as the crow flies), yet can take rather a long time to reach. It consists of one road, one pub, one distillery and one shop and is often described as remote.

In fact, while writing the classic "1984", George Orwell described the island as "The most un-getable place".

Originally built in 1810 the distillery fell into disrepair and wasn't revived until the 1960's by two local estate owners. It is now under the ownership of Philippines-based "Emperador INC".

The Balvenie Double Wood 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 1841

DoubleWood 12 was launched in 1993, using a process designed by our Malt Master David Stewart in 1982, now commonly known as 'wood finishing'.

To make The Balvenie DoubleWood, David Stewart MBE takes whisky that has spent at least 12 years in traditional whisky casks, American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads, and moves it to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months.

The whisky is then transferred to large oak vessels called “tuns” for 3-4 months to allow the whiskies from individual casks to “marry”. The Balvenie DoubleWood single malt whisky gains its distinctive character from being matured in two different wood types.

Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt whisky. The traditional casks soften and add delicate character, the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavour and the final few months in our tuns allow the whiskies to marry harmoniously.

Knockando 18 Slow Matured Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 1856!

Knockando distillery in Speyside is known for its slightly nutty and rich malty character.

Arran Sherry Cask The Bodega Whisky | 1862!

Arran Bodega Sherry Cask Whisky is a special edition single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Arran Distillery on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. It is part of their range of cask-finished expressions, where the whisky undergoes an additional maturation period in casks that previously held fine Spanish sherry.

Bodega sherry refers to the wineries in Spain where sherry is produced and aged. The casks used for finishing the whisky have previously held high-quality sherry, allowing the whisky to absorb the distinctive characteristics of this fortified wine.

During the finishing period, the whisky interacts with the residual flavors and aromas left in the Bodega sherry casks, imparting rich and complex notes of dried fruits, raisins, nuts, spices, and a subtle sweetness. The sherry influence adds depth and a distinct character to the original flavors of the Arran whisky, resulting in a unique and flavorful expression.

Arran Bodega Sherry Cask Whisky is often described as having a full-bodied and indulgent profile. It showcases a combination of fruity, nutty, and spiced flavors, with hints of dark chocolate, caramel, and a velvety mouthfeel. The influence of the sherry casks adds layers of complexity and richness to the whisky.

Each batch of Arran Bodega Sherry Cask Finish may display slight variations in flavor and characteristics due to the nature of cask finishing and the individual casks used. This allows whisky enthusiasts to explore and appreciate the unique qualities found in different bottlings.

Arran Bodega Sherry Cask Finish is typically enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to fully appreciate its aromas and flavors. It pairs well with rich desserts, dark chocolate, and aged cheeses, complementing the whisky’s depth and enhancing the overall tasting experience.

The production of Arran Bodega Sherry Cask Finish Whisky follows the regulations and quality standards set by the Scotch Whisky Association. It is aged for a minimum of three years in Scotland and usually bottled at a strength of 50% ABV (alcohol by volume) or higher.

In summary, Arran Bodega Sherry Cask Finish Whisky is a single malt Scotch whisky that undergoes a finishing period in casks previously used for Bodega sherry maturation. It combines the original flavors of Arran whisky with the influence of the sherry casks, resulting in a full-bodied and indulgent expression. With its fruity, nutty, and spiced profile, Arran Bodega Sherry Cask Finish offers a unique and enjoyable whisky experience for enthusiasts and those who appreciate the complexities of sherry cask-aged whiskies
